The 30kW fuel cell is a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology, designed based on the proven and durable Plug technology.
It brings together air and hydrogen, allowing increased power and range for mobility.
Both air and hydrogen flows enter in the fuel cell stack, the “heart” of the fuel cell.
The fuel cell stack consists of a negative electrode (anode) and positive electrode (cathode), separated by a polymer membrane.
Hydrogen molecules are separated into electrons and cations. The electrons go to an external circuit, generating a flow of electricity that powers both our 33KWh battery and our 57kW electric engine.
The cations go through the polymer membrane and are associated with anions of the air to create water.
Dual power is an intelligent hybrid system between the fuel cell and the battery that optimizes energy efficiency.
This configuration makes it possible to activate regenerative braking, to extend the life of the fuel cell and to have the best balance between the consumption of hydrogen and electrical energy for an optimized cost of ownership.
Combining green hydrogen with PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell technology generates the electricity needed to power the engine and recharge the vehicle’s battery.
The chemical reaction emits no pollutants and generates only water.
This technology brings all the benefits of a filling in a few minutes and an increased autonomy.
Plug is building the hydrogen economy as a global leading provider of comprehensive hydrogen fuel cell turnkey solutions. Plug has deployed over 60,000 fuel cell systems, designed, and built 185 refueling stations that dispense more than 70 tons of hydrogen daily, and is a technology leader in green hydrogen solutions via electrolysis. Present in Europe for more than 10 years, Plug has significant references in hydrogen mobility with key European industrials, logistics customers and vehicle manufacturers. Plug installed several PEM technology electrolyzers in Germany, France, The Netherlands, and Portugal. The company has deployed more fuel cell systems for electromobility than anyone else in the world.
